A man has appeared in court after police on patrol caught him red handed at the scene of an attempted burglary at Boslowick Road Post Office in Falmouth early on Tuesday morning.
Dene Tregidgo, 22, from Esperanza Court in Falmouth, pleaded guilty to the attempted burglary at Truro Magistrates Court.
He was committed to the Truro Crown Court for sentencing, and remanded in custody, with a due date of March 20 at 10am.
Tregidgo was also found in breach of suspended sentence made by Truro magistrates on February 13, but no action has been taken, it will be taken into consideration by the crown.
Photographs taken at the scene show damage to a door.
Manager Chrissie Jump said: “It seems that we've had a break in overnight. They tried to take the safe from the building and got disturbed. As far as I know one of them is in custody.”
A police spokesman said that officers on an Operation Heartbeat patrol in the early hours of the morning received a call from a member of the public which sent them to the shops.
They found a man at the scene and apprehended him.
