A fundraiser in memory of Falmouth’s tragic baby Bailey Buckley has collected over £300 for the hospital where he spent his short life.
The sports day, organised by New Era Fitness Club in Falmouth, raised £332 during the course of the day for Bristol Children’s Hospital’s Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal, with more donations coming in online.
The club hosted free fitness classes including cardio-box and taekwondo as well as a table tennis tournament, face painting, and a raffle.
Baby Bailey, known as Bailey Button, was born to Leah Lucas eight weeks premature and suffering from a congenital heart defect. He lived for 16 months in Bristol Children’s Hospital’s cardiac unit before passing away at Easter last year.
Leah’s aunt, Alison Brazier, said: “It went really well. We’ve raised enough now to get Bailey’s hand- and footprints outside his room.
“We want to give back to the cardiac ward where Bailey spent his life, and give to help other children to have the chance that Bailey could not.”
Anyone else wishing to donate can go to the Justgiving page of Bailey’s grandmother Maria, at http://www.justgiving.com/Maria-Lucas.
