Officers involved with Falmouth police station’s Operation Heartbeat, targeting commercial burglaries, have been out on patrol and offering advice to business owners.
Security, or the lack of it, remains one of the main reasons businesses are singled out as was highlighted when officers discovered a door left open at a premises in Penryn recently.
Sergeant Martin Roberts said: “We do have an issue with commercial burglaries at the moment and what I would ask all proprietors, where possible, is for them to remove cash from their premises.
“If that is not possible, then they should make note of the serial numbers of a couple notes so we have something identifiable if their money is taken.”
Business owners with CCTV systems are also urged to ensure the hard drive is kept in a secure place as these are often stolen during burglaries.
