A fire investigation is underway at the St Day Inn after a blaze in the early hours of this morning.
Crews from Redruth, Camborne, Falmouth and Truro, alongside the aerial ladder platform from Truro and an operational support vehicle from Falmouth raced to the inn on Fore Street, St Day after a report that the roof was "well alight" just after 1.30am.
Thirty firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, fought the fire using two jets and two hosereels.
By 2.30am "good progress" was being made with the main heart of the fire "knocked down", with crews extinguishing hot spots.
The fire was brought under control by 3am and firefighters from Redruth, Camborne and Truro remained at the scene damping down hotspots.
All the crews had left the inn by 4am. Fire investigators will continue the investigation into the cause of the fire later in the morning.
