On Wednesday we received a warm welcome at Carnkie Camera Club, where we spent the evening critiquing a selection of images from both clubs.

Comments were led by the chairmen with other members contributing. A lot of helpful suggestions were made as well as friendly banter. We had already seen most of our members' images shown on the night and enjoyed seeing those taken by Carnkie. We saw some stunning photographs, including a water droplet splashing inside a bubble which reflected a colourful striped background, a brooding sky over Falmouth Bay with rain clearly falling behind an anchored oil rig, portraits, landscapes and a wire wool light painting inside an engine house. It was good to see the work of a club that we don't meet during the annual round of competitions.

We did have a meeting on Thursday, (although we didn't expect to), where Derek Godridge, vice president, gave a presentation about his photographic hero, Henri Cartier Bresson, a French photographer considered to be the father of photojournalism. He helped develop the street photography style that was coined The Decisive Moment. Derek also gave a short presentation about preparing entries for the Western Counties Photographic Federation Members Exhibition competition and Victor Tullin explained how to size and title images for local competitions.

Our next meetings are: Thursday, Round 3 of Ken Farnell Cup competition which will be judged by David Chapman. The set subject is 'All About Water' and there are also open and monochrome sections. March 6, we will be showing images from our tutorial evening held on February 13, portraits and table top subjects.
