The eucharist service on Sunday was celebrated by the Rector, the Rev Lesley Walker, who started by thanking everyone concerned for the very successful coffee morning and jumble sale the previous day.
Her sermon was based on the lesson from Genesis, read by Wendy Bailey, telling the story of Creation. The Rector compared this early record, by people who could have had no detailed scientific knowledge, with the of the order of events presented by modern scientists discussing evolution. God created something fine and wonderful, a perfect world, everything needed for life, putting chaos and darkness in their places in the plan, and gave it to man to look after. Comparison with our current corrupted world suggests the unanswerable question of why it was left in man’s care.
The gospel was read by the Rev Heather Aston, who also took the intercessions.
The service on Sunday at 11.15am will be a family service, telling the story of Noah’s Ark, taken by the Rev Heather Aston.
