President on Sunday was Peter Kitchen and he welcomed the speaker, Ken Drage and his wife from Exeter and visitors from Tynemouth.
Ken talked about the greetings of grace and peace that Paul always made in his letters. Grace is the undeserved favour: a gift from God which gives us hope through Jesus and love resulting in peace. Ken showed the many Bible references to this grace and peace assuring a new relationship with God so that nothing can separate us from that love of God as we remember the gift of Jesus in the communion service.
After sharing tea Ken looked at how the word atonement was used in scripture. It could be the giving of a gift to appease someone who is displeased. But it is also something which purges our guilt and brings forgiveness. The Bible says that God is Love and He has shown that to us in the giving of Jesus for our salvation. God needs us to show love to others as He has shown love to us in the gift of Jesus for our sins.
