Cornwall’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Partners and Communities Together group is celebrating the achievements of LGBT people throughout history at an event at New County Hall this week.
Members of the LGBT PACT will be on hand at an information stand between 12pm and 2pm on Friday 28 February in the Slate Gallery at New County Hall in Truro to speak to visitors about any concerns and to provide advice and information on a range of topics.
The group is made up of professional organisations based in Cornwall working in partnership to identify the concerns and priorities of the LGBT communities living and visiting Cornwall.
The LGBT Pact lead organisation is Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service who work closely with other organisations to address concerns raised by Cornwall’s LGBT community.
The other partners that make up this group are The Source FM, The Intercom Trust, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (FFLAG), Cornwall Pride, Volunteer Cornwall, Cornwall Council, Coastline Housing, Devon and Cornwall Police, Healthy Gay Cornwall, LGBTQ Youth Cornwall.
Geoff Brown, cabinet member for homes and communities says: “This is an excellent example of how Cornwall Council is committed to treating all its people with equal respect and dignity”
Simon Mould Assistant Chief Officer of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are proud to be hosting this event recognising the achievements of LGBT people throughout history and showcasing available support from local organisations.
"We all have a part to play in making a difference and to help promote change towards an accepting society is not just the responsibility of a few, but can be achieved by many of us working together.”
Visitors to pop in and have a look at the information on display from today (Wednesday), February 26. To speak to a professional visit the information stand on Friday, February 28 between 12.00 noon and 2.00pm.
