Two seafarers injured as a result of the recent severe storms are being cared for by volunteers from Falmouth’s Mission to Seafarers and Apostleship of the Sea.
During the past week, a Thai seafarer was airlifted off a bulk carrier passing Falmouth, and a Filipino seafarer was taken off a vessel which had been in Falmouth Bay for bunkering by the inshore lifeboat crew.
Both men have been treated at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske in Truro. The Thai man has a broken leg and chest injuries, and the Filipino has leg fractures.
Graham Hall, Mission volunteer, and John Pinhay, Chaplain for AoS in Falmouth have visited both men, whilestaff from the Mali Thai Restaurant in Falmouth have helped by providing an interpreter to help with translation and to supply authentic Thai food.
