The weather may not have been perfect and it may have taken a while for people to lose their inhibitions and join in the fun, but the first Games on The Moor sessions have been hailed a great success.
Giant snakes and ladders, draughts, Connect Four, quoits, Swingball and Jenga were among the games on offer over three days last week thanks to Falmouth’s town management team and the Falmouth Business Improvement District.
Despite a slow start, it didn’t take too long for family members to pit their skills against each other, especially once they realised everything was on offer free of charge.
Town manager, Richard Gates said: “It went really well and we have had lots of positive feedback from people of all ages.
“It was a really encouraging start and we hope to make it bigger and better in the future with more games providing we can get more volunteers to help out.
“People were coming up to us and thanking us for putting something on for the children, which was enjoyed by people of all ages.
At one point we had a 14-year-old playing Swingball against a two-year-old which would not normally happen.”
The plan is to add to the number of games that will be available to play free of charge at other times throughout the year.
“The next time The Moor will be taken over by the games will be on March 22 and 23 as part of the Falmouth Spring Festival.
