On Sunday the Cornish flag was flown from the bell tower to celebrate St Piran’s Day and the bells were rung to welcome the congregation into the Parish church.
Archdeacon Bill led the service, the music was by Gerald and readers were Pam and Eric. Prayers of intercession were read by Christine and flowers this week were arranged by Tess. Madeline from the Sunday school distributed Smarty tubes to the congregation. After enjoying the sweets, the tubes are to be filled with coins over the period of Lent and returned on Easter Sunday.
The evening meditation service, silence at six was led by Wendy. On February 27 the bell ringers were joined at their practice by Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers. This year the church is fundraising to support research into Parkinson’s Disease.
The delicious Lentern Soup lunches will commence on Friday, March 7 at the parish rooms between noon and 1.30pm for six weeks. Everyone is very welcome to enjoy a tasty lunch and support this worthy cause. During the first lunch Mr Weatherby will be giving an informative talk on Parkinson’s Disease.
Thank you to everyone who supported the coffee morning on February 22. Over £120 was raised for church funds.
This year at the Mini Bazaar on March 29 the competition will be for a Mother’s Day Card. This is open to adults and children and will be judged at 10am on the morning of the Bazaar so entries will need to be brought in before 10am.
