Pendennis Brass have entertained guests at a pre-contest concert at Penryn College.
The concert was a special occasion for member Gareth Thomas, pictured, who is celebrating 34 years as the band's principal cornet player and who will be playing a brand new cornet when they compete shortly at Torquay.
The band has been practising with Richard Evans, one of the top brass band conductors in the country who visited Falmouth to rehearse with the brass band.
Mr Evans took a similar practice last year and a few weeks later the band qualified for the national finals at Cheltenham, and were promoted to national section one from January 1 this year.
After Torquay the band is looking forward to a full summer programme and will publish a full list of engagements in the very near future.
