Fundraising by a Porthleven fish and chip shop will this year be in support of 771 squadron at RNAS Culdrose.
Each year’s Roland’s Happy Plaice raises money for a different charity and for 2014 owners Roland and Lindsey Lowery have chosen the search and rescue helicopters.
It will begin on Monday, March 17 when they will open the shop between 4pm and 8pm to serve full portions of fish and chips for £3 – and all that £3 will go to the fund.
Customers will be able to buy an ace of spades playing card – the squadron logo – for £1 and write a message on the reverse side, before suspending it from the chip shop ceiling for all to see.
This was last done last year with smiley faces for the Children’s Hospice South West and with hearts in 2012 for Cancer Research UK. Members of the squadron will be there on the evening.
