A group of dedicated volunteers have left Penhale Beach looking spick and span, thanks to a big beach clean.
The Conservation Volunteers in Cornwall transformed Penhale beach on Friday, February 28, after the recent storms left a huge amount of debris and rubbish on the sandy shore.
Despite giving the beach a clean att the start of the year the volunteers, joined by Sarah Newton MP, took to the beach again, armed with rubbish bags and litter picking sticks, to clean up the mess on the beach before it returned to the sea and damages wildlife.
This beach clean-up is just one example of the great work that TCV Cornwall undertakes in the local area. For more information, please visit their Facebook page www.facebook.com/tcvcornwall or visit their website www.tcv.org.uk/tuckingmill.
Tom David, from TCV Cornwall said: “It’s really important to keep our beaches clean. After our last clean-up in January, we at TCV were very keen to get back to Penhale beach to clear up the mess left by the recent storms.
“The rubbish was posing a serious threat to the wildlife, as well as making the beach unsafe and unpleasant for visitors.
“We were delighted to be joined by Sarah Newton MP, and by the end of the day, we all had made a huge difference to the beach.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped today for making such a difference to the local area – they should be very proud of what they have achieved.”
