Pupils and staff from Pennoweth Primary School in Redruth celebrated World Book Day yesterday by coming to class dressed as well known book characters.
There were witches in the playground, Oompa-Loompas in the library, and dream catchers in the classroom. Jungle animals were weaving, the Famous Five were exploring and even a demon dentist cooking.
Every child had the opportunity to enjoy the animated storytelling of Mr Seth, a school governor and parents had the chance to come in for the afternoon to read to children, join in activities and listen to stories.
T teachers and children took part in activities such as creating recipes for the prefect dream and ultimate nightmare, inventing delicious new chocolate bars, creating a new jungle inspired dance, making teeth biscuits and tasting exotic fruits.
The variety of fancy dress themes and activities that were on display were inspired by the novels that each class is sharing together; from the Enormous Turnip in Nursery right through to James and the Giant Peach in year six. Other class novels included children’s classics such as the BFG, Famous Five and The Hungry Caterpillar.
