Police have arrested a number of people and seized drugs and "significant quantities of cash" following a series of drugs raids in Hayle.

Nine people were arrested as eight search warrants under Misuse of Drugs legislation were executed in the raids on the morning of Thursday, March 6.

The raids were part of Operation Calf, intended to disrupt the supply of class A controlled drugs, which involved a total of 54 staff drawn from various departments.

Police said: "Nine persons were arrested for various offences including alleged unlawful supply of Class A controlled drugs, and were conveyed to Camborne Custody Centre where they were detained awaiting interview.

"Items seized during the raids included substances suspected to be class A controlled drugs and significant quantities of cash."

Four persons all from Hayle were later charged with unlawfully supplying class A drugs and were remanded in custody to appear before magistrates this morning, and a fifth was also charged with supplying a class A controlled drug and was released on bail to also appear before magistrates this morning.

Four men were released on police bail pending further enquires, including three men aged 40, 41 and 30,  from Hayle, in connection with alleged unlawful supply of Class A drugs, and a 53 year old man from Hayle in connection with alleged handling of stolen goods.
