Work to replace the granite beam and concrete bridge on the B3303 at Praze an Beeble, situated in The Square close to the junction with the B3280 Leedstown to Four Lanes road, will begin on Monday, January 15.
The work is required in order to bring the bridge up to current highway loading standards.
The existing bridge deck, part of which is thought to be over 100 years old, is to be replaced with a reinforced concrete deck supported on the original foundations.
The new bridge has been designed to improve the flow of water beneath the structure by removing a central pier that supports part of the existing bridge.
The work will be carried out by CORMAC, under traffic light control for safety, and will take approximately eleven weeks. The traffic lights will inevitably cause some delays, however the delays will be minimised whenever possible.
