Fresh produce has once again become available to residents of Godolphin right on their doorstep with the opening of a farm shop.
Following the success of regular food markets at Godolphin House, its owners have decided to branch out by opening a shop right on the estate.
Most of the products will be locally sourced - with some organic products also - ranging from fruit and vegetables, dairy products, meat, eggs and baked goods including pasties. The shop will also have a place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, a slice of cake or a hot pasty.
Joanne Schofield, daughter-in-law to the owner of the house, said: "Our food markets have been very successful in helping to bring good food to many people who are interested in buying local produce. We wanted to continue to make good food available year round and farm shops seem to be the way forward."
She added that since the village shop had closed in Godolphin, people had been forced to travel "quite a distance" to get their basic products such as bread and milk and even farther afield to buy fresh, good quality food.
The shop is open for business between 9am and 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday - closing for lunch between 1pm and 2pm - and between 9am and 12noon on Sundays.
An open day is planned for this Saturday (January 13) between 10am and 5pm, to give members of the public a chance to look around the shop and enjoy tasters of the products on offer. Anyone requiring information can contact 01736 763194.
