CROWAN CHURCH: The bells rang out to welcome the congregation to the 11am service on Sunday. The Rev Leslie Attwood took the service, with the music played by Colin. Readers were Ann and Jane, with the prayers of intersession read by Wendy. The silence at six service is held every Sunday evening.
The Rev Sharon Shelcroft took a special service on Ash Wednesday, which was well attended.. At the St Aubyn Arms on Shrove Tuesday, Jill and her team did a wonderful job providing the tasty pancakes. Thanks to all who came along and made the morning a great success and raising £556 for church funds Thanks are sent to Ben and his staff for providing the venue. This year the church is fundraising to support research into Parkinson’s Disease. The next delicious Lenten soup lunch will be held on Friday at the parish rooms between noon and 1.30pm. Everyone is very welcome to enjoy a tasty lunch and support this worthy cause. During the first lunch on March 7, Mr Weatherby gave an informative talk on Parkinson’s Disease.
This year at the Mini Bazaar on March 29 the competition will be for a Mother’s Day card. This is open to adults and children and will be judged at 10am, therefore entries will need to be brought in before 10am on that day.
SITHNEY COMMUNITY GROUP: The next Ladies Pebbles Group event is on March 17 from 7pm until 9pm at Nancegollen village hall. This will be a fun quiz evening, so please come along with your team of up to six people. Light refreshments will be provided but please bring along tipples and nibbles if required. There is also a table top sale each Wednesday evening at The Crown Inn at Crowntown in support of Sithney Community Group. PRAZE FAIR SHOW: At the tent section committee AGM on February 27, Mary Willoughby was re-elected as chairman and Julia Harry as secretary.
The main show committee AGM took place in Praze Institute on February 28. William Faull was re-elected as chairman and Carole Wilson is taking over as secretary from Sharon Johns. All other existing committee officers were reappointed. As plans now go ahead for this year’s show on Saturday, July 12 , Mary Willoughby will be installed as the 2014 show president at the President’s Evening on Saturday, March 22 at The Shire Inn, Camborne.
