BALWEST METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev Philip Williams of Newlyn led morning worship on Sunday. Accompanist was Jill Warden and the retiring collection in aid of Bibles for China project raised £35.
The congregation are looking forward to the chapel anniversary service on Sunday when the Rev Daniel Reed will be taking the service. Following the service lunch will be served in the schoolroom.
ASHTON CHURCH: The celebrant at the service of imposition of ashes and holy communion on Ash Wednesday was the priest-in-charge of the united benefice, the Rev Peter Johnson. Malcolm Hersee read the epistle and Mr Johnson read the gospel. Canon Michael Porteus was the celebrant at the Book of Common Prayer service of holy communion on Friday. Bevan Osborne read the epistle and was also sidesman and Canon Michael read the gospel.
Evensong on Sunday was led by Mr Johnson; Malcolm Hersee and Bevan Osborne read the lesson; Margaret Goldsworthy was the organist and sidesman was Malcolm.
On Monday evenings at 7.30pm there will be a series of meetings in the Faith Matters Lent. All are welcome at 7.30pm.
