Face to face drop in advice clinics by a neurology care advisor have started running in community centres in Hayle and St Austell.
Peninsula Community Health’s (PCH) neurology care advisor, Mary Eason, decided to launch the drop in clinics as the telephone based service was not fulfilling the needs of patients and that patients would rather talk to someone face to face, especially if they are nervous, upset or have difficulties with speech.
Run on a non-appointment basis, the drop-in clinics give advice, signposting and support to those with neurological conditions.
The clinics are being run at: The Merlin Centre, Hewas Water, St Austell The first Monday of the month (except bank holidays), 1.30pm to 4.30pm
Hayle Day Centre Commerical Road, on the last Tuesday of the month, 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Mary Eason said: “Since the sessions started in February, they have proved to be very successful. I’ve received some really positive feedback from patients and people in the community and have been able to signpost them to the most relevant health professional for their care and condition”.
