A 20-year-old woman has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A39.

Emergency services were called to the Eastcott Cross area near Bude around 1.10am this morning after a Vauxhall Corsa left the road and came to rest upside down in a field.

A police spokesman said the female driver, in her 20s, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The A39 was closed at the junctions for Morwenstow, Eastcott and Bradworthy and diversions were put in place and drivers are asked to avoid the area for the time being.
