Mullion WI Spring Show a sunny success: PICTURES

The entrance to the WI hall |was filled with a display of spring flowers including daffodils, narcissus, helibores and brightly coloured pot plants. Most of the exhibits were displayed in the main hall.

The children from the village primary school excelled themselves with lots of colourful artwork, which was displayed round the walls and was of very high standard.

In the adult classes there were many entries in the handicraft section, ranging from handmade toys and knitted garments to cross stitch.

Floral art was also well represented and the flowers made a colourful contribution to the show.

The art section had a large and varied amount of entries, which attracted a great deal of interest, while everything in the cookery and preserves section looked appetising and, as always, was very well supported.

The photography class showed some amusing and interesting photographs, with the most popular class being “patterns in nature.”

Mullion WI president Val Stephens thanked all the judges for their valuable contribution to the show, together with everyone involved in organising the show – particularly David Endean, Elizabeth Endean, Rosemary Bray and Rita Eaton.

She also thanked WI members who prepared the lunches and made tea and coffee. The president then introduced Rev Steve Swann, minister of Mullion Methodist Church, who opened the show and presented the cups.

He congratulated everyone on the high standard of entries, and presented the cups to the appropriate winners.

The raffle was drawn and prizes distributed.

To conclude the afternoon the president thanked Rev Swann, and everyone for coming along and making the show such a success.
