The service on Sunday was taken by Richard Courtney, who welcomed the congregation by reading from Psalm 121 v 1-2.

The opening hymn was “Let all the world in every corner sing.” Prayers of thanksgiving were said thanking God for all creations seen and unseen, for His love which spreads across the world and thanking God for the peace He gives us through the troubles of life. Lessons from Genesis, Romans and John 3 were read by Rose Webber, Mike Hockley and Carole Chamberlin.

Richard’s sermon was based on John 3 v 1-10 “Being born again.” He said: “It’s not what we do, but what God does. He doesn’t love because of what we have done or of what we have not done, He just loves us and we are saved by grace alone. Also He does not love us because we are in a group, He loves us to love anyone. Can we really be born again and find love wherever we are?

In the prayers of intercession, prayers were said for the troubled parts of the world, for race, religion and colour, those who have lost health, sight or hearing and for asking for strength from God, the unwell and those in care and nursing homes and hospitals, and all health and care nurses and those undergoing treatment in hospital. The final hymn was “Crown Him with many crowns.”

The organist was Markus Mueller. Tea and coffee was served by Nancy and Carole.

The service on Sunday will be taken by Sylvia Wainwright at 10.30am.
