On Sunday, the second Sunday in Lent, the Rev Stephen Tudgey celebrated holy communion at 8.30am. Sung matins was held at 10.30am with Mr Tudgey as priest-in-charge and lessons were read by Valerie Pitts and Anne Hennessy. The choir sang Thomas Attwood's "Turn thy face from my sins" for the anthem, and the organist was Michael Hoeg.
This was followed at 6pm by sung evensong with Mr Tudgey officiating and the lessons were read by Michael White and John Pyatt. The choir sang Stanford's B Flat setting of the "Nunc Dimittis". Michael Hoeg played the organ.
Events this week: Thursday, 9.30am, Charlie's Angels, church hall, New Street; 10.30am, holy communion; 11.15am, prayer group. Saturday, 11am - noon, Lent course, choir vestry “environmental issues”, newcomers welcome. Sunday, holy communion, 8.30am; 10.30am, sung communion, church hall, followed by refreshments.
