This week, Marie Minchington, DPAGB gave her presentation entitled My Way. Marie has exhibited both locally and nationally and describes herself as a prolific photographer of anything and everything that interests her.

That was demonstrated by Marie's presentation which included a wide range of photographs. She started by showing us a range of wet prints (those developed in a dark room) and explained some of the techniques used to develop them, all of which are now possible in Photoshop.

Marie is well travelled and we saw infrared images of Australian landscapes and local scenes, other prints of Holland, India, Hong Kong, Austria and photographs of Lindisfarne, Davidstow, the Hurlers, river Lynher and much more. It was unusual to see such a variety of images from one photographer, but interesting to see someone who produced great pictures across the range, rather than specialising in limited genres.

Marie was also refreshingly honest; she included a few images that she felt hadn't quite worked, explained why and invited comments. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Next meetings: March 20, annual competition with St Ives Camera Club, which will be judged by Barbara Jenkin. March 27, tutorial evening, including painting with light using wire wool.

Meetings take place each Thursday at 7.30pm at The Space, Penryn RFC, Kernick Road, Penryn TR10 9LF. It is a friendly and welcoming club that aims to help people improve their photography skills. If you would like further information on the club, please telephone chairman Mark Walker on 07518 299379, visit the club website at www.penryncameraclub.org.uk or find us on Facebook.
