Three young gymnasts from Mullion have been in Florida for a competition, and a quick visit to the theme parks.
On February 9, Jazz Tredanick, Jess Lea and Nadia Tricker left Mullion to compete in the Magical Classic Competition in Orlando, Florida.
They travelled with a group of girls from The Academy Gymnastics Club in Portishead, Bristol, whose Head Coach Liz Kincaid trains Imogen Cairns, former Olympian and Commonwealth floor and vault champion.
The competition was a great success with Jazz coming seventh, Jess thirteenth with two falls and Nadia fourteenth whilst suffering with a knee injury, in all, six medals for our three gymnasts plus special awards.
Thier hard work was rewarded with a few trips around the theme parks.
The girls also had the honour of meeting world famous gymnasts Oksana Chusovitina and Svetlana Boginskaya.
Coach Jill Punter said “We are very pleased with how well Jazz, Jess and Nadia competed and how all their hard work has been rewarded, but it wasn't all gymnastics and am very proud of how they behaved with maturity and politeness at all times.
Mullion Gymnastics Centre is currently being extended thanks to a £26,800 grant from Sport England, which will improve the layout of the gym, increase floor space and extend the head height above the beam area.
Mullion Gymnastics Centre offers gymnastics to all ages and abilities, call Jill on 01326 241377 for more information.
