A teenager in Helston has helped a family escape from smoke filled home after alerting the occupants to a kitchen fire.
Firefighters were called to Beacon Parc, Helston just after midnight on Saturday morning after a report of a fire involving a pan on the stove.
The first pump on scene “made pumps three”, asking for additional resources from Falmouth and Mulllion, with two wholetime fire officers also attending.
An ambulance was requested for five casualties including children, suffering from smoke inhalation.
A fire service spokesman said: "The fire involved the ground floor kitchen, which has been badly damaged by fire.
"One of the children in the property alerted the rest of the family to the fire, enabling them to evacuate the property.
"Two fire-fighters in breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, and one covering jet were used to extinguish the fire. Properties either side were also checked for smoke and fire spread. Natural ventilation was used to clear the property of smoke."
