The service on Sunday was taken by Sylvia Wainwright and commenced by reading Psalm 95 together and followed by singing the first hymn “Angel voices ever singing.”
In the prayers of thanksgiving prayers were said for the show of new life, the beautiful flowers and the leaves starting to show on the trees. Prayers were also said knowing that we are sometimes forgetful to do the things that God needs us to do and knowing that He’s still there for us at all times.
Lessons were taken from Exodus chapter 17 v 1-7 and John chapter 4 v 5-30 “Jesus talks with a Samaritan woman.” Sylvia said she was interested in the Samaritan woman and Jesus knew that the woman could change, nobody sins in isolation, God knows but He forgives. There is redemption for everyone and God wants us to love one another.
In the prayers of intercessions, prayers were said for concerns of the world and its people. There seems to be so much trouble and prayers were said that leaders of the world should work together for peace. People in care, nursing homes and hospitals were prayed for. The closing hymn was “Where cross the crowded ways of life.” The organist was Markus Mueller and tea and coffee was served by Carole and Daphne. Flowers were given to Carole and Philip Chamberlain, who will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday.
The preacher for Mothering Sunday will be Peter Cocks.
