The organisers of Penryn's first carnival in seven years are on the hunt for a fairy queen and king to star in their parade.
The carnival committee will be hoping to see plenty of youngsters arrayed in all their finery for a competition at the Temperance Hall on April 11 at 7pm.
The competition is open to children up to seven years old, and there will be prizes of £15 each for the winning boy and girl, and of £10 each for two male and two female attendants.
Mary May, one of the carnival organisers, asked for everyone to appear in their “best bib and tucker” to win.
She said: “It has been quite some time since carnival royalty has graced the streets of Penryn.
“It will be the first time in Penryn's carnival history that a fairy king will be chosen.”
There will also be competitions for mother and child look-alikes, knobbly knees, child with the brightest eyes, and Penryn's best mum.
The two children who are crowned king and queen will be expected to join the parade at Penryn Carnival on July 19, which will be the finale to the annual Penryn Week.
