A drop-in session on the proposed Special Protection Area (pSPA) which, if approved, will encompass Falmouth Bay, attracted about 25 people last week.
Natural England’s Richard Cook spent time explaining what the proposals mean and how they would, or would not, affect various activities in the area.
The formal public consultation on the proposals is scheduled to close at noon on Monday, April 14, so people and organisations still have some time to have their say on the proposals.
The pSPA is designed to protect three species of bird, the black throated diver, the great northern diver, and Slavonian grebe.
Following the consultation, Natural England will report to the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the responses received and will submit the final site recommendation and impact assessment. Once the Government has taken all consultation responses into account, it will decide whether to classify the site as an Special Protection Area.
