Macsalvors in Penryn is again hosting a sea safety event at The Boathouse in Penryn’s Commercial Road this weekend with experts on hand to give advice.
Representatives from the RNLI, the coastguard, fire and rescue service and the police will be among those sharing their expert knowledge with those who drop in between 11am and 3.30pm on Saturday.
There will also be informal workshops and displays covering a variety of subjects, including changes to the VHF radio operators licence, man overboard, carbon monoxide, kill cords, grab bags, and fire safety.
The new Odeo LED flare, which has a burn time of over five hours, will be available for demonstration and there will also be a talk on pyrotechnic flares. The RNLI lifejacket clinic will offer sailors a chance to bring in their own lifejackets, to be checked by the experts.
Police officers will be present to discuss the Boatwatch scheme, how to security mark equipment using “selecta dot”, and discuss the new plans for a harbour patrol this season.
