A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being rescued "barely conscious" from the sea near Hayle.
The inshore lifeboat was called out after a report of a person in the water .
The woman is thought to have been cut off by the tide and that she fell while trying to clamber along cliffs.
A lifeboat spokesman said the woman in "serious difficulty" in rough seas under Black Cliffs.
He said: "After beaching the boat they pulled the woman from the water and began to administer first aid as she was barely conscious by now.
"It is believed that she became cut off by the tide, tried to climb out but fell back into the water and could not get out.
"After first aid treatment from the inshore lifeboat crew, the woman was then winched into a Search and Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose and taken to Treliske Hospital, before the inshore lifeboat crew returned to St Ives."
The woman was well enough to communicate with her rescuers.
