It was an edge of the seat, tension fuelled evening last Thursday evening for the awarding of the 2013-2014 club trophies for best printed and projected images.
A total of five trophies were awarded with the difficult task of judging placed on the shoulders of Richard Thomas from the Helston Photographic Club.
The first trophy awarded was The Monochrome Cup for the best monochrome print. A total of eight fantastic images were up for selection with first place going to David Buckby for his image “Arcade”. Next was the Len Collings Trophy with the subject matter People, once again first place was awarded to David Buckby for a super image “Ben”. The third category of the evening the Nora Jones Trophy for An Image of Cornwall gave the judge a testing time as all of the entries were particularly impressive. After plenty of deliberation the winner was announced as Paul Young with his lovely shot of Kynance Cove. The final two trophies of the evening were awarded for the best printed image and the best digitally projected image of the year.
Once again the standards were exceptionally high but the honours for the best printed image went to Gerry Curtis for his glorious image entitled ‘Mud flats at Starcross’ and for projected image the trophy went to Sue Hutchins for her very imaginative entry Zippy Days. Congratulations should also go out to Peter Batson who was awarded second, third and highly commended in both of the final categories and to Judy Trewhella and Daniella Buckby who had images highly commended in the projected image category.
The club would also like to thank Richard Thomas for his excellent judging and kind words.
