Monthly Lunch was on Saturday and on Mothering Sunday, the fourth Sunday in Lent, Paul Coombs was worship leader with Mike Trounson the local preacher.
Playing the music this week was Paul Jenkin and Mary Louise Combellack.
Valerie Searle and Trudy Addington performed the Lenten Cross presentation with the Crown of Thorns.
Mike Trouson spoke to the children about obeying an instruction in particular, follow me. Mike demonstrated simple scientific experiments to do with follow me, none of which had been seen previously. Paul Coombs showed a simple effect to do with changing water into wine, using a blackcurrant drink!
After the children went downstairs, Mike with his visual aids spoke about mothers from different sections of the Holy Bible. He specifically referred to Mary, the mother of Jesus, and her cousin Elizabeth. Each little drama, fitted in well with Mothering Sunday. Jesus spoke from the Cross and asked John the disciple and apostle to take His earthly mother into his home.
Some of the songs of fellowship were sung, whilst others were on the screen. After the service it was time for the children to come upstairs with their gifts for the ladies in the congregation. Then those who wanted to went downstairs at coffee time prepared by Helen Jenkin. The evening service for the Breaney Fellowship took the form of a Taize Meditation.
On Sunday at 10.30am, Sid Harris, Circuit Youth Worker will lead the service and the evening service at 6pm with holy communion will be led by the section minister the Rev Beverly Turner.
