President on Sunday was Bob Muxlow who welcomed the speaker, David Willey and his wife from Seaton and visitors from Birmingham and Solihull.
In the afternoon David chose the reading from Numbers to question why God needed the Israelites to spy out the promised land. He suggested that God was testing their faith. Their failure meant many years more in the wilderness. We have the same journey of faith towards the kingdom and we can spy it out by reading the Bible and find God’s offer of salvation to each individual through His son. Jesus gave his whole life for our sins and we should remember what he has done for us as we take the bread and wine.
After sharing tea David looked at the Bible teaching about the return of Jesus. He began with Bible prophecies about his birth which were very specific about time and place followed by references to the manner of his death which were even more specific. Finally David showed some of the many prophecies of the actual return of Jesus. Some have been seen to come true and we need to watch current events in the world to see the fulfilment of other prophecies pointing forward to God’s kingdom on earth at the return of Jesus. Jesus said we should all watch and pray and prepare in our lives for that kingdom.
