CAMBORNE 24pts EXMOUTH 26pts

CAMBORNE lacking several regulars surrendered their unbeaten League record to a determined Exmouth side at the Recreation Ground.

On the day Town' could have few complaints after never recovering from two converted tries in as many minutes from the visiting backs midway through the 1st period.

Having gone behind to an early converted try Mike Provis opened the home account with a monster 9th minute penalty goal.

Soon after the fly half reduced the arrears to a single point with an easier effort before the Exmouth purple patch exposed the home defence for a 6-21 scoreline.

Before the break Provis punished the visitors spoiling tactics with two more assured penalties but despite centre Rob Ley's strong running the Cherry & Whites failed to create any try scoring opportunities as half time arrived at 12-21.

With full back Adrian Downing forced to leave the field Exmouth again breached the home cover with a 48th minute corner try for a 14 point lead.

Down but not out right wing Mark Rogers gave his team a lifeline with an opportunist try on the hour scorching down the flank to cross in the scoreboard corner.

In the closing stages with centre Paul Gadsdon leading by example Camborne got back in touch with a penalty try converted by Provis when the visitors collapsed a rolling maul from a close range lineout catch and drive move.

At 24-26 Town' strove hard in a lengthy period of stoppage time without really threatening to snatch victory.
