THE qualifiers for the knockout stages of the Barry Mounter Trophy were decided on Sunday morning with net scores ranging from 56 to 71, writes Simon Edwards.

The qualifiers were Colin Cratchley and Charlie May, Andy Hurrell and Matt Tregenza, Tony Boyce and Gareth Clemens, Steve Strick and Nigel Waters, Chris Bowden and Tony Semmens, Joe Hill and Jess Willard, Ray Crebo and Francis Vickerstaffe, Tony Hosking and Barry Knowles, Chris Cox-Webber and Phil Hales, Alun Dixon and Andy Pengelly, Chris Dunn and Richard Dunn, Paul Kirkman and Simon Phillips, Ray Pearce and David Phillips, John Murrish and Paul Murrish, David Glease and Ed Hall, Keith Berry and Dave Rollason Lou Archer won the Ladies' Stableford on Saturday afternoon with 34 points. Anna Harry was second with 31 and Caroline Worrell third with 29.

Weekly Stableford results were: 1, Matt Tregenza, 43; 2, John Friggens, 41; 3, Simon Phillips, 40; 4, Jeff Friggens, 32.

The Missing Link won the Friday Quiz with 97 points. M and S were second with 92, Rolls Royce third with 61, D and K fourth with 59 and The Lone Gardener fifth with 58.

Matt Tregenza won the traditional "Putters off the Tee" on New Year's Day with four strokes and continued his good form by winning the Triathlon (nine holes golf plus a game of darts and a game pool) with 28 points.

Joe Hill was second with 20, Paul Kirkman third with 19 and Sin Lugg fourth with 18.

The Quiz Nights continue on Friday at 8 p.m. The ladies play a "Yellow Ball" on Saturday afternoon and the men's Barry Mounter Knockout (round one) takes place on Sunday morning. There is also a singles Stableford for those men not taking part in the knockout.

Next week there is a weekly Stableford, the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet in the afternoon.
