The cast of a Redruth pantomime will be hoping audience figures will grow like Jack's magic beanstalk when they stage their production of the classic tale next week (January 17 to January 21).

Redruth Amateur Musical and Pantomime Society is staging Jack and the Beanstalk between next Wednesday and Sunday, performing at the Regal Theatre.

All the usual features of a classic pantomime will be on show, with the cast promising slapstick humour, a sing-a-long with Buttercup the cow and plenty of "boo and hiss" moments with Giant Blunderbuss (Peter Fellows) and his sour-faced henchwoman Mrs Fleshcreep (Jill Tolputt).

Making their principal role debuts are Claire-Louise Auguste, in the role of principal boy Jack Trot, and Meghan Bailey as Princess Jasmine. However, both are familiar to the Regal stage as experienced senior dancers with the Bev-Lyn School of Dancing. Other familiar faces include Andy Christophers as Dame Trot, as well as Margaret Dawes as the hard-of-hearing Queen and Jon Eva as her her long-suffering husband King Frederick. Stringing the story together is Adele Peters-Float as the flamboyant cartwheeling fairy.

The production is directed by John Brolly, with Barbara Bray as musical director and Melissa Glover as choreographer. Tickets are available from Wool and Crafts in Fore Street, Redruth, on 01209 211817.
