A major new homes development for Truro moves into top gear on Tuesday, January 23, with a big launch event at the city's Hall For Cornwall.
The £20 million Boscawen Woods project, comprising 53 luxury town houses and maisonettes and overlooking its namesake park, is the flagship residential development of Kevin Heaney's cornishhomes.co.uk.
An 18-month construction programme is now well under way following in-depth preparations that have involved ecologists and arboriculturists as well as architects and engineers. Main contractors Carillion are on target for the first 15 luxury apartments and town houses to be ready for occupation in June.
A marketing suite has been installed on site and a home buying advisor appointed. The launch event will take place on January 23, from 12 to 2 pm and 5 to 7 pm.
Enlarged computer generated images of the development and individual properties on the 3.5-acre woodland site will be on display. Architects, solicitors and financial consultants as well as the developers will be on hand to provide the complete one-stop information and advice package for prospective purchasers.
Wine will be served and everyone attending will be entered into a grand prize draw - with the opportunity to win a weekend for two in London, with tickets for the Royal Opera House. Strong early interest is anticipated and reservations will be taken on the day.
Following the launch event, the new marketing suite at Boscawen Woods will be open five days a week, Thursdays to Mondays, from 11 am to 5 pm.
Designed by csa-architects of Falmouth, Boscawen Woods is being built in three phases and is scheduled for completion in May, 2008.
"This is a wholly exceptional development which I am sure is going to be widely recognised as an outstanding combination of environmental sensitivity harmonising with 21st Century living," said Mr Heaney.
"I am immensely proud of what is now taking shape as the result of a huge team effort by our own project team, our architects and the many specialist professional advisors who have contributed to such a challenging scheme in a unique sylvan setting.
"The end product is an unrivalled opportunity for people seeking homes of the highest quality in a beautiful woodland location yet so close to the very heart of a vibrant city and revitalized county."
The Boscawen Woods homes will be of a contemporary design utilising many traditional Cornish materials working in harmony with the surrounding woodland.
