Truro College are to provide non-English speakers with free classes at their Open Learning Centre in Truro.
The well-established qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language held at the Open Learning Centre in Truro is combining classes with English for Speakers of Other Languages to provide opportunities for the trainee teachers to practise their craft.
Throughout the year the College will be publishing dates when all ESOL classes will be free of charge. Anyone who would like to learn English as a second language at any level can go along to the Open Learning Centre for these classes. They will be run by trainees who are near the end of their courses, with their tutors assessing and advising them.
Sarah Yates, course organiser, said: "The trainees are full of enthusiasm and creative ideas at this stage of their training and are really keen to start teaching real' classes. This is a great opportunity for students to experience lots of different teaching styles and to cover lots of language areas, all for free. Not everyone can afford regular English classes so we're hoping that these sessions will give local people who need language training a bit of a start."
