THE Barry Mounter Trophy qualifiers are now down to the quarter-finals after Sunday's latest round at Praa Sands Golf Club, writes Simon Edwards.The quarter-finals will be played on January 28.

Those who qualified from the first round were Steve Strick and Nigel Waters, Alun Dixon and Andy Pengelly, Joe Hill and Jess Willard, Ray Crebo and Francis Vickerstaffe, Chris Dunn and Richard Dunn, Paul Kirkman and Simon Phillips, Colin Cratchley and Charlie May, Keith Berry and Dave Rollason.

In the Stableford, for those not playing in the knockout, Barry Lee won on 38 points with Mike Jacka second on 34 and Roy Hillyar third on 29.

Ann Seabrook won the Ladies' Stableford on Saturday afternoon with 32 points. Anna Harry was second with 26 points, winning this on the last nine holes from Sarah Blight.

Andy Hurrell (14 handicap) carded an outstanding 46 points to win the weekly Stableford. Richard Dunn (14) was second with 39, Steve Lugg (16) third with 37 and Matt Tregenza (16) fourth with 36.

M and S won the Friday Quiz with 92 points. The Missing Link was second with 76, Rolls Royce third with 61, D N A fourth with 59 and D and K fifth with 56.

Jennifer Chambers won the Ladies' Wednesday nine-hole Stableford with 18 points. Ann Seabrook was second with 16 and Jackie Quick third with 15. Jennifer also won the putting competition.

The Quiz Nights continue on Friday at 8 p.m. The ladies play their monthly medal on Saturday afternoon and the men play their monthly medal on Sunday morning. Next week there is a weekly Stableford, the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet in the afternoon.

Members should note that the Daily Mail Foursomes dates have been changed: The Ladies play theirs on January 27 and the men play theirs on February 4. The Barry Mounter semi-final will now be on February 11.
