British contemporary artist Kurt Jackson will present two paintings to the Chairman of Cornwall County Council Doris Ansari at a special ceremony at Devoran School on Monday.
The artist, renowned for his love of Cornwall's landscapes, is donating the paintings to the council's Schools Works of Art Collection. The Collection, established in 1961 with an anonymous donation of £100, contains paintings, sculptures and ceramics from some of the country's most famous artists, including Terry Frost, Patrick Heron, Bernard Leach, Barbara Hepworth and Bryan Pearce.
The ceremony at the school will also be attended by Terry Lello, the County Council's Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families; Carol Breakwell, Headteacher at Devoran School, staff and pupils, including members of the school's art club; and representatives from the Lemon Street Gallery, which exhibits Kurt Jackson's work.
