Nominations are being sought to recognise environmental "heroes" in Helston and the Lizard area.
The Lizard Peninsula Friends of the Earth are looking for a person or group of people who have been actively working for the environment, to receive the John Mackay Award 2007.
This year, the Friends are particularly encouraging nominations for young people who have played their part in helping the environment.
Yvonne Lewer, from the group, said: "This year Friends of the Earth would especially welcome nominations for children or young people - perhaps a school group working together for the environment, or maybe an individual who has worked tirelessly on a specific project. The award is wide-ranging in the way it defines benefit to the environment and so encompasses many different activities."
The award consists of a perpetual trophy, a certificate and a small gift and is funding through a legacy by the late Porkellis resident John Mackay, who died in 2001.
Past winners have included Pauline and Brian Wills from Wills greengrocers in Meneage Street, as well as Derek Thomas from the Mustard Seed project in Wendron Street.
The closing date for nominations is February 28, ahead of the celebration lunch and prize giving in April. All nominations, together with a reason why the person or group has been put forward, should be sent to Yvonne Lewer at Ardgowan, Sithney, Helston, TR13 0RN.
