HAYLE 22pts STROUD 29pts
HAYLE failed to roar against Stroud in the Senior Vase competition.
In cold windy conditions Stroud made a great start with a try straight from the kick off. Fly half Josh Lister, scored the try, which he also converted.
Hayle hit back with a penalty through loyal servant Paul Lello but the visitors regained the lead when Lister grabbed his second try. In first half injury time, Stroud winger James Sharples scored, but Lister somehow managed to miss.
Visiting powerhouse back row forward Judd Martin extended the visiting teams lead. Stroud had built up a 16 point lead and had taken charge of most of the first half play.
Hayle fought back early in the second half with the team regrouping and playing together. Tries were scored by Lello and Seager with Lello converting his try. Lello then cut the Stroud lead to nine points with 20 minutes left but with time running out visiting wing Sharples scored a gem of a try to ensure an away win.
Four minutes into injury time Ricky Brandham, got a home try but Hayles big hopes of a trip to Twickenham drifted away in the wind.
