Tall Ships fever is sweeping the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth where a whole range of activities have been planned to coincide with the four day festival.

The museum will be right at the heart of the action, with its 100ft look-out tower offering stunning aerial views of the ships moored just feet away. And to give as many people as possible the chance to enjoy this unique perspective the museum will be opening until 8pm on Thursday and Friday.

For those visiting the museum, there’s the Curators’ Cabinet |to look out for. This features memorabilia from the very first Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta which was held back in 1966. 

Its Waterside Café is playing host to the winners of the Tall Ships National Children’s Art and Writing Competition and will be displaying 200 pieces of artwork from children across the county and beyond.

The artwork, created as part of the official arts project for the Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta, will be on |display until September 14.

Also, throughout the four days of the event, the museum will be inviting children and families to get creative and take part in an array of Tall Ships-themed art activities. Between noon and 3.30pm youngsters can make and take their own Packet ship scenes, compass rose badges and tall ships collages, as a special souvenir of this |unforgettable occasion.

And what better way to round off the perfect day touring the Tall Ships than with a bite to eat in the museum’s café where you can enjoy a fish supper or a pasty and a pint with stunning views of the Tall Ships as a wonderful back drop.
