Morgenster was built and launched in the Netherlands in 1919 as a herring lugger when she was called Vrouwe Maria.
She was motorised in 1927, then extended by seven meters and later renamed.
She continued fishing until 1970 and was bought by her current owners in 1983 in terrible condition.
It wasn’t until 2008 that her transformation into a sail training ship was completed.
