The Eye of the Wind, a 38.6m long brigantine, was originally called Friedrich after being built as a topsail schooner in Germany in 1911 and used as a cargo vessel.
After a refit, she was renamed in 1976 and went on to become the flagship and base camp of the scientific expedition Operation Drake.
She has also appeared in Hollywood movies including Blue Lagoon and White Squall.
