More than 100,000 people are expected to flock to Falmouth today to watch the spectacular Parade of Sail as the final part of the Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta 2014.
Organisers are already declaring the four day event a spectacular success with more than 35,000 people visiting Falmouth and the docks each day so far. Thousands more are expected today.
The Tall Ships will be slipping anchor from the docks at around 9am with smaller craft joining the larger vessels to assemble in the Carrick Roads to parade past St Mawes, St Anthony Lighthouse, then turning right to proceed past Pendennis Point, passing the town's beaches to Rosemullion and the mouth of the Helford River.
From 3pm the ships will disperse to the start line a few miles off shore.
The race will be started by Lieutenant Commander Steven Banfield from his river class off shore patrol vessel HMS Severn.
In total, 46 Sail Training vessels, including 11 of the magnificent square sail Tall Ships, will take part in the race, making this one of the biggest sailing events in solely English waters.
The ships then head eastwards en-route to the finish line just off the Isle of Wight and continue to London, sailing up the River Thames to the finish port of the Royal Greenwich where they will enjoy a further five days of celebrations.
