There are still problems with drainage at Castle Beach Toilets in Falmouth, despite reports that a broken pump had been replaced.

The finance officer of Falmouth Town Council told councillors that a contractor had been called to deal with the issue again, even though she had been told that the problem had been fixed.

She said she has asked for a report on the “suspect” pump, and added “I think it would be wise to get a replacement pump put in.”

Mrs Thomas was speaking to councillors at the town’s finance and general purposes committee meeting, when she also talked about drainage issues at toilets on Gyllyngvase beach, where councillors have decided to have a rotting roof replaced at a cost of £56,000.

Responsibility for the toilets was handed to the town council in April, and Cormac was tasked with refurbishing the facilities as part of the deal.

The committee chairman, Candy Atherton, said: “I would like to ask Ruth to provide the council with a report on what was wrong with these refurbished toilets, across the board.”
